I have for the longest time tried to reason myself why artists’ work matters in the time of climate crisis. Is it only a distraction, short-term entertainment? Or is there some meaningful value in it? For now, I have come to the conclusion there is. But it is a tool, not a solution. This zine is an ode to storytellers and engineers as well as a record of some of my thoughts and passions as a soon-to-be engineer at the age of 22. Lastly, I’d like to present to you Wikipedia’s definition of an engineer, as it is good to keep in mind that it is a wide concept:
“Engineers, as practitioners of engineering, are professionals who invent, design, analyze, build and test machines, complex systems, structures, gadgets and materials to fulfill functional objectives and requirements while considering the limitations imposed by practicality, regulation, safety and cost.”
